Rescue1Run 2020 has been Cancelled due to the current public health crisis

[vc_column_text]As you are aware, Rescue1Run is organized by volunteer EMTs and firefighters at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad. Our operational priority is to provide emergency services to our community and we are focused on maintaining the highest level of service during this public health crisis. Our 150+ volunteers are currently staffing ambulances and rescue apparatus to ensure we are standing-by to help 24/7.

It is also imperative that we safeguard the health of the public, event participants and the staff of the Rescue1Run event.  The Organizing Committee has been meeting regularly with rescue squad, city and county officials to discuss updates on COVID-19 and the risks of assembling a large group of people at our rescue squad. The unanimous opinion of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue squad leadership and the Organizing Committee is that the risks to public health outweigh the valuable opportunity to meet with our community and raise funds for our station.

We are therefore going to cancel the race this year as well as the Family Fun Walk.

For those of you that have already registered for the race, thank you for your support! Your support year after year directly funds training and equipment that helps us meet the challenges of the very crises that we are gearing up to confront today. We will be in touch with you individually regarding your registration.

For those of you that haven’t registered yet, we will be back bigger than ever next year so stay tuned for updates on Facebook (facebook.com/rescue1run) and Twitter (twitter.com/rescue1run).
